NJIT/NJII community members,

I am writing today to announce a reconfiguring of the leadership and structure of the New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII) and VentureLink at NJIT. NJII will serve as the umbrella organization within which VentureLink will be housed, and Simon Nynens will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Don Sebastian will continue as President of NJII. In addition, Simon and Craig Gottsman, Dean of the Ying Wu College of Computing, will be nominated to become members of the NJII Board.

NJIT Community Members,

Many of us will celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday this week and enjoy time with family, friends, and loved ones. For those who may not be so fortunate because of circumstances such as being far from home, I encourage members of the NJIT community who have room at their tables to consider inviting a student or colleague to join you for Thanksgiving. Whatever your plans, I wish you all a joyous Thanksgiving and offer you my personal thanks for all you do on behalf of NJIT.

NJIT Community Members, Alumni and Friends,

It is my pleasure to share with you news that NJIT now is ranked by U.S. News and World Report among the top 100 National Universities. The 2020 edition of the annual ranking lists NJIT at #97 in the nation after rising nearly 50 places during the last two years. NJITalso was ranked #41 overall on the “Best Value Schools” list and #43 among “Top Public Schools.” Additionally, NJIT is ranked within the top 100 undergraduate engineering programs in the nation.

NJIT Community Members,

As we complete the Fall 2019 semester, I want to wish our students success on their finals and wish all of you a restful and joyous holiday break. This has been a very productive semester for NJIT, and I want to thank you all for your contributions, particularly the many who have contributed to the development of NJIT’s next strategic plan, NJIT 2025: Building on a Strong Foundation. This plan will guide decision making for the next five years and assure we continue on the upward trajectory that has marked our recent history.

NJIT Students, Parents, Faculty and Staff,

I write today to provide further details regarding the Pandemic Recovery Plan we first shared on May 5, 2020, and updated on May 22, 2020. NJIT plans to begin welcoming faculty, staff and some students back to our campus throughout the Summer and, as we have stated in prior communications, to broadly implement a converged learning model that will enable us to offer in-person classes once the Fall semester begins on September 1, 2020.

Dear Highlanders,

We are looking forward to welcoming members of our campus community back to NJIT for the spring 2021 semester and building on the success of our Pandemic Recovery Plan implementation. Because of your cooperation and adherence to protocols throughout the fall semester, NJIT was able to execute its plan for converged learning with in-person instruction, restarted scholarly research activities, provided support services to students, and hosted a significant residential population.

I write today to announce that Ed Bishof, NJIT’s Sr. Vice President for Finance and CFO, will be retiring as of June 2020 after more than 33 years of service to our university. I am happy for Ed and his wife, Debbie, but know that we will miss Ed’s talent, knowledge, and dedication. Ed has brought innovation, transparency, and sustained success to the complex financial operations of our university.
