Six NJIT researchers have secured grants in the latest round of funding provided by the New Jersey Health Foundation (NJHF), which has increased its funding in both its Community Health, Social Services and Education Program, as well as its traditional research program this year.

The $4 million round of funding brings the NJHF’s total to $70 million since the inception of its annual grant program.

David Rothenberg, distinguished professor of philosophy and music at New Jersey Institute of Technology, presented his new book “The Secret Sounds of Ponds”, a book, music and performance initiative.

Rothenberg started this project during the pandemic. When everybody was home, he decided to visit a nearby pond. After “tossing a microphone in,” he was able to capture an entirely new realm: the unexpected and stirring rhythms of some of the smallest and loudest creatures on Earth.

Seventeen people associated with New Jersey Institute of Technology made ROI-NJ’s annual lists of influential power brokers in New Jersey, with three cracking the top Super 60 Power List.

The Super 60 honorees were President Teik C. Lim, Luiz De La Hoz, a member of NJIT’s Hispanic Latinx Leadership Council, and Michele Siekerka, a member of the Board of Directors of NJIT’s New Jersey Innovation Institute.

New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Hillier College of Architecture and Design (HCAD) was present on Monday as Mayor Ras J. Baraka, and the director of the Mayor’s Office of Homeless Services Luis Ulerio opened the second iteration of Hope Village, “Come As You Are” Bridge Housing Community, located on Elizabeth Avenue.

This recognition underscores Professor Wang's outstanding contributions to the field of catalysis and her dedication to advancing scientific knowledge.

Professor Zhi Wei in Ying Wu College of Computing’s Department of Computer Science has been elevated to IEEE Fellow status effective Jan. 1, 2024. The appointment is in recognition of his significant contributions to knowledge discovery from biological data and in the field of bioinformatics.

At the intersection of academia and innovation, Assistant Professor Mathew Schwartz at NJIT's Hillier College of Architecture and Design is involved in a diverse set of projects, from spearheading a National Science Foundation initiative to fortify America's infrastructure to collaborating on a national defense project tackling security threats.

Schwartz is co-principal investigator in an NSF Strengthening American Infrastructure (SAI) project that seeks to stimulate human-centered fundamental and transformative research that strengthens America’s infrastructure.
