At a ceremony in Washington, D.C., NJIT President Joel S. Bloom was presented with the highest level award granted by the Secretary of the Air Force to a non-employee civilian, the Distinguished Public Service Award.

The award is presented to those who have personally made a profound contribution on the national level that represents substantial progress to the Air Force mission. 

New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) announces the appointment of three new members to its Board of Trustees, all of whom have graduated from the university.

Joining the Board of Trustees are Richard M. "Rich" Maser '73, Norma J. Clayton '81 and Jim Stamatis '85. In addition to the numerous professional awards each of the appointees have received over their prolific careers, all three hold the distinction of being presented NJIT’s Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award.

Newark, NJ -- From July 22 - 25, 2019, New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) will welcome VOICE Summit 2019 — “the world’s largest voice tech conference.” 

VOICE will be held for the second consecutive year at NJIT, drawing a roster of internationally recognized brands from around the world and nearly 5,000 attendees over the course of the four-day event interested in “reimagining how we interact with technology through voice.”

Governor Phil Murphy discussed his vision for tax incentives reform and growing New Jersey’s economy on June 24, 2019, in NJIT’s Makerspace. 

In his introductory remarks, NJIT President Joel S. Bloom cited the university’s focus on economic development, as evidenced by Makerspace and the establishment of the New Jersey Innovation Institute in 2014.

“We now have a STEM governor and jobs for all across the continuum,” said Bloom. “We need the workforce and the facilities.”

New Jersey Institute of Technology has renamed its College of Architecture and Design for J. Robert and Barbara A. Hillier to reflect the globally renowned architects’ historic donation to the university.

Their gift, the university’s largest ever, will enrich the architecture and design program in many ways: with scholarships that diversify the pool of talented architects entering the profession and funds for the technology that will advance it, to name just two.

NJIT’s Ying Wu College of Computing to offer data science programs in Jersey City

Starting fall 2019, New Jersey Institute of Technology’s (NJIT) Ying Wu College of Computing (YWCC) will offer part-time and full-time graduate-level programs in data science at a location just steps from the Exchange Place PATH station in the waterfront district of Jersey City.

The new location will expand NJIT’s $2.8 billion annual impact on the state’s economy by serving New Jersey residents working in the nearby emerging tech hub of New York City.

NJIT and the university’s president, Joel S. Bloom, have been recognized by the Newark Regional Business Partnership (NRBP) for their commitment to revitalizing Newark to help “make the City a better place to live, work or visit.” Both were publicly acknowledged April 2 at The Newark Museum, where the organization held the eighth annual Kevin J. McKenna Awards and presented the 2019 Kevin J. McKenna Leadership Award to President Bloom. McKenna was a longtime NRBP counsel and executive committee member who died suddenly in 2011.
