NJIT Community Members,
I hope you all are well. As Chair of the NJIT Board of Trustees, I would like to take this opportunity to share some updates and acknowledge important successes.
NJIT Community Members,
Today we mark a solemn occasion and honor the lives and memories of the thousands who perished on September 11, 2001, when hijacked airplanes crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City; the Pentagon in Washington, DC; and a rural field in Pennsylvania.
NJIT Community Members,
I am pleased to announce that Catherine Z. Brennan will be NJIT’s next Senior Vice President (SVP)/Chief Financial Officer (CFO), beginning on September 20, 2021.
As SVP and CFO, Cathy will maintain responsibility for the university’s financial management and accountability, and will lead the Offices of General Accounting, University Budgeting, Payroll, Procurement Services, Accounts Payable, Financial Systems and Innovation, Risk Management, Treasury, and Bursar.
NJIT Community Members,
Welcome back to campus for the Fall 2021 semester! It has been quite some time since our university was operating at full capacity, and we are looking forward to the return of our vibrant campus community. As I noted in an earlier message, COVID will be with us for the foreseeable future, so we must continue to follow the protocols that we have put in place, but we are confident that NJIT has taken the steps necessary to create the safest possible living and learning environment for its students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Dear Community Members,
Dear Faculty and Staff,
The Best Places to Work in New Jersey employee satisfaction and engagement survey period closed on May 28, 2021, with an impressive overall response rate of 45%. For those who completed the survey, thank you for making your voice heard and helping to shape the future of the faculty and staff experience at NJIT.
Dear NJIT Community Members,
We are pleased to share the position profile for NJIT’s presidential search, which is based on broad and collective input from the NJIT community. Your thoughts and comments over the past two months have been invaluable in shaping a strong and compelling document that captures the vitality of NJIT and the collective sense of excitement about the university and its future.
Students, Faculty, and Staff of NJIT,
Yesterday we celebrated the final of our commencement ceremonies, and it truly has been uplifting to offer these opportunities for our graduates to come together in-person, as well as virtually, to mark such an important occasion. Seeing members of the Class of 2021, as well as our honorary degree recipients, on campus, in their regalia, taking photos with their classmates, family, and friends raised the spirits of all involved and gave us a real sense of progress toward a return to normalcy.
Dear Highlanders,
Dear NJIT Community Members,
I will be joined by President-elect Teik C. Lim for an in-person Town Hall event on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, from 3:30 pm to 5 pm in the Central King Building's Agile Strategies Lab. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend, if possible. You also may submit questions in advance by emailing openforum@njit.edu. President-elect Lim and I are looking forward to seeing many of you at the Town Hall event and discussing the present and future of NJIT.
Sincerely,
NJIT President Joel S. Bloom
