Students at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) have again achieved an impressive amount of prestigious awards this year with 16 students earning nationally competitive scholarships and fellowships. Their achievement continues an NJIT run, with Highlanders amassing 47(and counting) of these awards in the past three years.

Building on last year’s fruitful trip to Germany, NJIT’s Martin Tuchman School of Management (MTSM), in collaboration with the university’s Office of Global Initiatives, is again offering a faculty-led study abroad trip during Spring Break — this time to Lyon, France, in March 2020. Students will learn about international marketing principles through visits with French companies, including JP Riviere Winery and Groupe SEB, and lectures at ESDES, the business school of UCLy — Lyon Catholic University.

As the #NJITSummer comes to a close, so are the internships and research experiences that began just a few short months ago after school let out. The NJIT staff and faculty are proud to see our fellow Highlanders succeed through their internships and real-world experiences.

Here are some of our Highlanders that had a successful  #NJITSummer!

This past spring break, six undergrads from the MRKT485 course and two graduate students from MGMT699 ventured to Germany for the first Martin Tuchman School of Management (MTSM) undergraduate faculty-led study-abroad experience. Accompanied by MTSM Senior University Lecturer Melodi Guilbault, they visited both prominent companies and locations of historical and cultural significance, and attended lectures at Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) University, a partner institution of NJIT that helped plan the excursion.

The competition for scholarships and fellowships grows fiercer every year. Still, there’s good news: At NJIT, students are increasingly receiving notable awards that provide opportunities to do research, study abroad (both, in certain cases) and more.

Just as the spring 2018 semester was coming to a close, a small reception was held in Eberhardt Hall to congratulate the university’s scholarship and fellowship recipients over the past year. While some have completed their assignments, others are either in the midst of or preparing for them.

The Digital Stone Project is a summer workshop offered by Italian stone-cutting company Garfagnana Innovazione. Students from NJIT, NYIT, Yale University, Bennington College and William Paterson University were selected by their respective faculty and brought to Garfagnana, Italy to work with the latest innovations in digital stone fabrication technologies.

The students developed models using programs such as Rhinoceros, 3-D Studio Max, Zbrush and Cinema 4-D to be milled out by five axis robotic mills at facilities provided by Garfagnana Innovazione.
