Three NJIT undergraduates — two from the Hillier College of Architecture and Design and one from the Ying Wu College of Computing — won the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to study abroad. 

NJIT physics graduate student Sam Granovsky presented groundbreaking findings on the solar corona during the April 8, 2024, total solar eclipse at the Annual American Geophysical Union (AGU) Meeting in Washington, D.C., held December 9-13, 2024.

Over 100 Albert Dorman Honors College (ADHC) scholars showcased their semester's research at the Honors Interdisciplinary Research Forum, featuring work from three foundational courses: Introduction to Research Writing, Introduction to Research Methods and — new for this semester — Introduction to Entrepreneurship.

An NJIT computational research team made impressive strides at the Princeton FlyWire Codex Data Challenge. Teams were tasked to solve a highly complex problem: analyzing the intricate network of neurons in the brain of a Drosophila melanogaster — commonly known as the fruit fly. Teams had to treat this neural network as a massive, interconnected graph and work to determine the best possible ordering of neurons. The goal was to maximize the efficiency of the brain's neural pathways, creating an optimal flow of information within this tiny but surprisingly complex system.

Sudiksha Sahu, a fourth-year architecture student at NJIT’s Hillier College of Architecture and Design, wanted to diversify her career options this past summer. Without prior research experience, Sahu took on the challenge to participate in the 2024 Undergraduate Summer Research and Innovation Symposium. 

Sophomore computer science major Hari Sah was on the gold medal team at this year’s Project/Problem-Based Learning competition, hosted by National Taipei University of Technology, where students from New Jersey Institute of Technology brandished their skills against peers from around the world.

The 2024 academic year kicked off with a Convocation that had a different spin. With the participation of DJ Ricky Bonds, NJIT’s Jazz Band ‘Elementals,’ Highland Dancers and bagpipers and even a special edition of Family Feud NJIT-style, the university’s incoming class received an upbeat welcome.

Trang Dang, a senior computer science major in the Ying Wu College of Computing, has been awarded the 2024 Anne Wiley Scholarship by NJIT’s Murray Center for Women in Technology. The award is given through nomination by deans or department chairs for exemplary service in support of advancing the representation of women in STEM fields.

Throughout her time at NJIT, Dang sought to use the opportunities afforded to her to find her fit and pursue a personal and professional career trajectory that would match an aptitude for excellence with a passion for making a difference.

Industrial engineering student Bianca Hernandez wrapped up her internship at AriZona Beverage Co., putting forth all the skills and knowledge she has acquired at NJIT. 

“Since being there, it's been a really great experience,” said Hernandez, who minors in safety engineering. “Everyone was very welcoming, and this may seem very rare in terms of internships, but the people that I work with daily, they view me more as a coworker rather than an intern. 

An independent, flexible, small sensor for breast tumor detection was the winner of the top Dr. James F. Stevenson Innovation Award at the 2024 Undergraduate Summer Research and Innovation (URI) Symposium at NJIT.
