New Jersey Institute of Technology has been named the No. 1 midsize employer in New Jersey and No. 64 nationwide on Forbes’ 2026 list of America’s Best Midsize Employers. The recognition places NJIT among the top workplaces in the United States and highlights the university’s continued strength not only as a leading public research institution, but also as an employer of choice.

NJIT’s Martin Tuchman School of Management joined the Fortune top business schools and MBA programs list for the first time, ranked No. 62 nationwide.

With its high-tech slant and proximity to Wall Street, the Newark institution’s management department is ranked near the top this year, compared to more than 500 schools with AACSB accreditation and more than 1,000 colleges offering MBA degrees overall.

Online education programs at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) rank among the top 100 in the country, according to the U.S. News & World Report. NJIT earned high marks across degree-granting programs in business, engineering and information technology. 

Student entrepreneurship education at New Jersey Institute of Technology was recognized by The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur, which placed the Newark university at No. 19 for graduate-level study and 33 for undergraduates, out of 300 universities worldwide.

The rankings in their Top Schools for Entrepreneurship 2026 category are substantial jumps from fall 2024, when NJIT ranked at 29 for graduate students and 44 for undergraduates.

The annual guide honors institutions that demonstrate exceptional commitment to sustainability across operations, academics and student engagement.

New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has climbed to No. 80 — its highest-ever placement — in the 2026 U.S. News & World Report Best National Universities rankings, continuing its steady ascent among the nation’s leading institutions.

The new placement marks a four-spot rise from last year and a 23-place improvement over the past five years, underscoring NJIT’s growing national reputation for academic excellence, innovation, student success and affordability.

At 4 ½ stars, NJIT is tied for the highest rated public institution and trails only Princeton University in New Jersey. NJIT is also featured in Money’s national list of the Best Public Colleges.

The Princeton Review continues to recognize New Jersey Institute of Technology as one of the best universities in the U.S.

NJIT is featured in this year’s edition of the educational services company’s guide, The Best 391 Colleges. Just 15% of all four-year colleges and universities made the guide, which NJIT has been in since its inception in 1992. The selections are listed alphabetically.
