New Jersey Institute of Technology President-Elect Teik C. Lim will talk about innovation at the next annual meeting of the National Academy of Inventors.

Lim, who'll begin his NJIT presidency on July 1, is participating in a Presidents’ Panel on “innovation in university culture, innovating for future generations and the role of invention in promotion and tenure,” as described by NAI.

The June 14-15 conference, “Defining the Future: Inventing for Tomorrow,” will take place in Phoenix.

New Jersey Institute of Technology’s efforts to nurture and support businesses led by African-Americans are being recognized by a caucus of county commissioners.

The caucus, New Jersey Nineteen (NJ19), comprised of Black county commissioners, bestowed an African-American Business Champion Award to Joel S. Bloom, NJIT’s president since 2011.

Central to the university’s support for Black businesses is VentureLink, the business incubator housed under its New Jersey Innovation Institute.

NJIT President Joel S. Bloom has been presented the Lifetime Achievement award by The National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering, Inc. for his and the university’s extensive experience, notable accomplishments and role as a leader, role model and significant contributor in championing diversity in STEM.

Two leaders at New Jersey Institute of Technology made NJBIZ’s list of the 2021 Education Power 50: President Joel S. Bloom and Simon Nynes, CEO of NJIT’s New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII).

The annual list recognizes the most impactful and influential educational leaders in New Jersey.

As the federally supported COVID-19 Community Vaccination Center at New Jersey Institute of Technology entered its final days, leaders of the operation that ultimately delivered 221,450 vaccinations in 90 days recognized each other for their cooperation, professionalism and humanity.

Officials from FEMA, the National Guard, U.S. Air Force, N.J. Department of Health, N.J. State Police and NJIT spoke during a ceremony inside the center, even while Air Force personnel continued to deliver vaccinations.
