Today we celebrate Veterans Day, honoring those who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

We are saddened to announce the passing of Dr. Daljit Singh Ahluwalia, who joined NJIT in 1986 as chair of the Department of Mathematics following an extraordinary career at the NYU Courant Institute, where he worked at the forefront of Applied Mathematics with a focus on wave propagation.

I am pleased to announce that NJIT has launched a national search for our next Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

To guide this important effort, we have engaged WittKieffer, a nationally respected executive search firm with deep expertise in higher education. The search committee will be chaired by Andrew Christ, Senior Vice President for University Operations, and committee members include (in alphabetical order by last name):

NJIT is proud to celebrate Juneteenth (which the university is observing on Friday, June 20). This federal and state holiday commemorates the official end of slavery in the United States, which occurred on June 19, 1865, when Union General Gordon Granger brought news to Galveston, Texas, that enslaved Black people were free.

This weekend, as many of us gather with family and friends to observe the Memorial Day holiday, let us take time to remember and honor those who sacrificed their lives while serving in the United States military.
