The American Astronomical Society (AAS) has named Dale Gary, distinguished professor of physics at NJIT’s Center for Solar-Terrestrial Research (CSTR), one of 24 new AAS Fellows for 2025.

The Society annually honors the most distinguished members from its global community of over 8,000 astronomers, recognizing extraordinary achievements and service in the astronomical sciences.

A special group of NJIT’s graduating seniors is finishing undergraduate life with a flourish — their achievements across the humanities and STEM sciences recently earned them the Outstanding Student Award at the College of Science and Liberal Arts Awards this month.

Danna Valentina Sanchez Hernandez '25 took a big leap leaving her home country of Colombia to pursue her undergrad studies in the U.S., but that journey is paying off at NJIT — her research exploring the fluid dynamics and locomotion of marine life has recently led to a prestigious Goldwater Scholarship.

This year’s Goldwater class is comprised of just 438 scholars from across the U.S.

NJIT’s annual celebration of its top student researchers kicked off at the 2024 Dana Knox Student Research Showcase, which once again highlighted a stunning array of innovation and discovery from every corner of the STEM disciplines.

NJIT Assistant Professor of Physics Junjie Yang has won a National Science Foundation’s (NSF) CAREER Award to explore the unusual properties of quantum materials that hold the potential to propel the next generation of smaller, more energy-efficient electronic devices.

The CAREER Award is among NSF’s most prestigious awards in support of early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education, and lead advances in the mission of their department or organization. Approximately 500 awards are issued each year nationally.
