LeShannon Wright was stunned. She had just learned that she placed first in the 2019 New Business Model Competition (NBMC), a contest sponsored by the New Jersey Acceleration Center at NJIT — this after making her first pitch for a business concept she had never talked about publicly before.
Jenan Abu-Hakmeh’s dream career is in law and public policy, and the May 2019 graduate has got it all mapped out. An Albert Dorman Honors College alumna who majored in business with concentrations in finance and international business and minored in legal studies, she plans to attend law school, practice in the field for several years and then work perhaps as a lobbyist or in a governmental capacity.

New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has been cited by The Princeton Review as being among the best schools in the nation for students aspiring to become entrepreneurs. NJIT is ranked No. 41 among the Top 50 Undergraduate Schools for Entrepreneurship Studies for 2020 across the country, and is the only university in New Jersey to achieve this recognition.

Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) and NJIT are now partners in education. The institutions signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU), as well as two other agreements involving NJIT’s Martin Tuchman School of Management (MTSM), Oct. 25 in Beijing. Joel S. Bloom, NJIT president, and Jianyong Qiao, BUPT president, represented their respective universities, along with faculty and staff, at the signing.
TEDxNJIT aims to bring innovation and remarkable people together to share a TED-like experience in Newark. This year’s event was all about stories of resilience from guest speakers of all different backgrounds, including the following members of Martin Tuchman School of Management (MTSM).
