Artificial intelligence experts from ADP, Amazon and Maersk highlighted this year’s NJIT Data Science Summit, hosted by the university’s Institute for Data Science.

The summit began in 2022 with Google and IBM presenting about hardware and ethics. This year’s focus was on generative AI, large language models and how they’re used in the business world.

NJIT’s Department of Data Science in the Ying Wu College of Computing is launching two new graduate programs in artificial intelligence during the 2023 academic year, in support of the increasing demand for qualified AI engineers and analysts to facilitate problem-solving and decision-making in the digital world of the future.

The new programs will address the dramatic growth and proliferation of AI technologies into the mainstream, such as the recent debut of the ChatGPT application.

New Jersey Institute of Technology and Israel's Ben-Gurion University of the Negev officially opened a research center, the Institute for Future Technologies, located in the NJIT @JerseyCity satellite location.

Although the Institute and research there began last year, the opening ceremony only happened now due to pandemic-related delays.

Ying Wu College of Computing (YWCC) is proud to welcome a record-breaking 1,150 new students at all levels of undergraduate, graduate and doctoral study for the fall 2021 semester, a new high at 11% greater than the previous year, and representing 31% of the total NJIT student body.  

Ying Wu College of Computing at its NJIT @JerseyCity location will offer new master's degrees in information systems and business information systems this fall, to meet demand from local technology professionals for graduate-level education.

The new degrees will bring the number of master’s programs offered at NJIT @JerseyCity to five. The location also offers five graduate certificate programs.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, President Daniel Chamovitz of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU) and President Joel S. Bloom of New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) have unveiled a partnership that will create a world-class Institute for Future Technologies in New Jersey. Two powerhouse universities in the fields of cyber technologies and environmental engineering will come together to offer dual degrees and exciting new research opportunities. The Institute looks forward to receiving support and seed funding from the State of New Jersey.

NJIT @JerseyCity celebrated the graduation of its first group of master’s students, with four students earning their Master of Science in Data Science at the end of the fall semester this week. While a typical part-time M.S. program takes five semesters to complete, including a full summer semester, these students raced ahead to complete the program in just four semesters.

Voluminous amounts of data can be overwhelming to even the most experienced professional. That was the experience of Roberto Rivera, a senior research analyst with NJ TRANSIT. Spending his days immersed in large data sets, Roberto realized that continuing his education would provide him with additional skills and training to help him manage the increasingly data-intensive nature of his work.

NJIT’s Ying Wu College of Computing to offer data science programs in Jersey City

Starting fall 2019, New Jersey Institute of Technology’s (NJIT) Ying Wu College of Computing (YWCC) will offer part-time and full-time graduate-level programs in data science at a location just steps from the Exchange Place PATH station in the waterfront district of Jersey City.

The new location will expand NJIT’s $2.8 billion annual impact on the state’s economy by serving New Jersey residents working in the nearby emerging tech hub of New York City.
