New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) hosted the second annual Nexus of Excellence Awards Oct. 8 in the Campus Center Atrium, celebrating the university’s faculty and staff whose achievements exemplify NJIT’s mission and values.

Building on last year’s inaugural ceremony, the 2025 event recognized honorees across categories that reflect NJIT’s Innovation Nexus 2030 Strategic Plan — spanning excellence in teaching, advising, mentoring, research, diversity and community engagement.

New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has been officially recognized as an affiliate of the Bee Campus USA program, joining a growing network of colleges, universities and communities committed to creating healthy, sustainable habitats for pollinators.

New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) President Teik C. Lim has been elected to the distinguished class of Fellows of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering of the United States of America (INCE-USA), one of the field’s highest professional honors.

The Fellowship recognizes Lim’s pioneering contributions to noise and vibration control, his sustained record of innovation and mentorship, and his long-standing service to INCE-USA.

Contributions to Noise and Vibration Control

A team of NJIT architecture and urban systems students has taken first place in the 2025 American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Setty Family Foundation Net Zero Energy Design Student Competition, one of the most competitive international student design challenges focused on sustainability and energy efficiency. 

When the FIFA World Cup kicks off next summer, all eyes will be on the 16 host cities across North America — especially East Rutherford, New Jersey, where the tournament’s final will be played at the 80,000-seat MetLife Stadium. But for Tatiana Florexil ’25, a recent graduate from New Jersey Institute of Technology’s (NJIT) Hillier College of Architecture and Design (HCAD), the true potential of the World Cup lies beyond the stadium walls. It lives in the streets, parks and plazas of local communities.

Three Highlanders were recognized for their entrepreneurial achievements and significant contributions to New Jersey’s economy at the 12th annual New Jersey Immigrant Entrepreneur Awards. Among the distinguished honorees were alumnus and trustee Dhiraj Shah '99, Foundation Board of Directors member Arthur Kapoor and Professor Suresh Kumar.

The architecture, engineering and construction industry is undergoing a profound transformation, driven by technological advancements reshaping how projects are designed, coordinated and executed. Three alumnae of New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Hillier College of Architecture and Design — Gayatri Desai ’14, Veronica Quintero ’07 and Alexandra Pollock ’03 — are leading this evolution.
