Leon Baptiste '91 has earned distinction as an NJBIZ ICON honoree for his role in shaping New Jersey's economy as president of LB Electric Co. LLC.

The NJBIZ ICON awards recognize leaders over the age of 60 from New Jersey industries such as accounting, healthcare, education, financial services, commercial real estate and more for work throughout their careers — not just in their respective fields, but in the state’s larger business community as well.

In an effort to promote mutually beneficial investment, trade and technological exchange opportunities between New Jersey and India, New Jersey Institute of Technology’s (NJIT) community business incubator, VentureLink, has partnered with two forward-thinking, respected business entities in India: The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), the top not-for-profit association serving the information technology (IT) and business process management (BPM) industries in Indi

The focus of the event was why New Jersey is the best place for entrepreneurs and businesses in the U.S., as well for foreign firms seeking to enter the U.S. market, to invest in and grow their businesses. And the interest in doing so was indeed high, with upward of 150 people from over 40 industries — from accounting and architecture, to insurance and investment, to manufacturing and marketing and more — attending the inaugural ExploreNJ conference.

Municipal leaders, academic presenters, as well as chief technology, information and analytics officers from across the country gathered at NJIT’s Wellness and Events Center Oct. 15 and 16 for the MetroLab Network 2018 Annual Summit. The conference centered on leveraging city-university partnerships to deliver technology, data and analytics to local government and drive civic innovation.

For Christopher Domey ’16, the decision to attend NJIT was an easy one. His brother was already enrolled as a student and the campus was close to home, thereby allowing him to stay in contact with friends and family.

“In order to be sure I had a private space where I could get away from the distractions at home, I made sure to live on campus for my first three years of NJIT,” Domey said. “This proved to be invaluable.”
