New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has once again earned national recognition on Forbes’ “America’s Best-In-State Employers” list, reinforcing the university’s reputation as a top academic institution — both for students and its faculty and staff.
Among the 90 companies in New Jersey that earned a spot on the list, NJIT achieved standout recognition:
No. 1 among New Jersey educational institutions
No. 4 among companies headquartered in New Jersey
No. 13 overall in New Jersey
The 2025 edition of the annual rankings, developed by Forbes in partnership with Statista, are based on a survey of more than 160,000 employees working for companies employing at least 500 people across the U.S. Participants evaluated their employers on a wide range of factors including workplace culture, opportunities for advancement, wage equity and willingness to recommend their employer to others.
“Being named the top education employer in New Jersey by Forbes is a reflection of the vibrant community we have built at NJIT — one defined by collaboration, innovation and a shared commitment to advancing knowledge and opportunity,” said NJIT President Teik C. Lim. “Our people are the foundation of this achievement. Their talent, dedication and spirit make NJIT a nationally-recognized institution of higher learning, and a truly rewarding place to work.
“I am deeply grateful to our faculty, staff and administration for their unwavering contributions to the success of our university.”
Conducted over the past three years, the survey generated about 2 million evaluations, with responses weighted more heavily when made in-state. Participants offered both direct assessments of their own employers and indirect evaluations of peer organizations, and the scoring model placed greater emphasis on recent feedback. The result is a state-by-state list of employers recognized for sustained strength in areas like environment, career development, compensation and overall employee satisfaction.
Ultimately, 1,417 companies made it onto at least one of the state lists. The full methodology can be found on Statista.com.
