A pair of NJIT men's tennis players, Amine El Kholti and Daniel Sabogal, earned spots on the Southland Conference All-Academic teams, the conference announced Thursday morning. Both student-athletes were named Second Team All-Academic.
El Kholti split time at the top three singles positions this spring, winning three matches at first singles, four at second singles, and one at third singles. In all, El Kholti finished with a 8-7 singles record to go along with his 7-6 doubles record, with eight of those 13 doubles matches taking place at the top position. In the classroom, El Kholti boasts a 3.98 GPA and has made the Dean's List in all five semesters at NJIT as a Business major.
Sabogal was a mainstay in the NJIT doubles lineup this spring, pairing with two different partners to win seven of 16 matches. Sabagol has a perfect 4.0 GPA and is a six-time Dean's List honoree as a Mechanical Engineering major.
El Kholti and Sabogal helped NJIT to a 9-9 record this spring in Head Coach Marco Matteucci's first season leading the Highlanders.
