NJIT's Online Master's Program in Electrical Engineering is Ranked 14th in the Country
New Jersey Institute of Technology’s online master’s program in electrical engineering now ranks 14th in the country, according to BestColleges.com
The program, aimed at students looking to enhance technical, problem-solving and professional development skills, includes three specializations: communications, signal processing, and microwave engineering; mechatronics, an interdisciplinary field that includes mechanical and controls engineering; and power and energy systems. Courses are offered flexibly so that students can complete coursework at their own pace.
“The online Master of Science program in Electrical Engineering at NJIT is designed for students who want to strengthen their command of the latest techniques and methodologies in electrical engineering, develop the technological and creative-thinking skills necessary to deliver innovative solutions to real-world electrical engineering challenges, and cultivate the professional development tools needed to become a leader in a world of increasing technological complexity,” says Leonid Tsybeskov, chairman of the Helen and John C. Hartmann Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
In the preface to its annual ranking, BestColleges notes that professionals in electrical engineering are in increasingly high demand, especially within the fields of power, manufacturing, telecommunications and renewable energy. The median salary for electrical engineers is above the national average, at $94,000 per year, and electrical engineering jobs exist in nearly every industry, from the federal government to navigational instruments and semiconductor manufacturing.
While most students in NJIT's program have a background in electrical engineering, those with experience in other engineering and science fields are encouraged to apply, provided they can demonstrate competency in basic electrical engineering principles. For interested students without strong electrical engineering background, bridge courses are available. Distance learners at NJIT can earn their electrical engineering master’s degree in just 19 months.
One of the oldest and largest professional engineering schools in the United States, NJIT’s Newark College of Engineering offers nine undergraduate degree programs, 23 master’s and nine doctoral degree programs. Undergraduate enrollment is more than 4,000, and more than 1,500 are enrolled in graduate study. The 150-member faculty includes engineers and scholars who are widely recognized in their fields.
