Ciara Adams Named America East Offensive Player Of The Week

Sophomore Ciara Adams capped off a successful opening weekend for the NJIT women's soccer team by being named America East Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning.

Adams earned the award after being the only America East player to score multiple goals to open the season, logging a brace in the Highlanders' 4-0 shutout win over LIU on Thursday, Aug. 18. Adams' second and third career goals made her the first Highlander to score multiple goals in a game since teammate Bailey Chant netted a pair in NJIT's 6-0 rout of Saint Peter's last season (Sept. 4).

The award is the first America East weekly honor of Adams' career, NJIT's third Offensive weekly award, and the eighth overall honor for the program since joining the America East in July 2020.

Nicole Scott of Binghamton (Defensive) and Madison Michaud of Maine (Rookie) earned the other America East awards for week one.

NJIT will return to action on Thursday, Aug. 25 when the Highlanders take on county foe Seton Hall in South Orange. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
